The county government in partnership with Safaricom Plc has launched a digital platform that will enable county residents access county government services online.

Dubbed myKituiApp, the digital platform which is meant to be a one stop shop will be instrumental in payment of county services such as business permits, parking fees and revenue management systems.

The online tool will also come in handy in offering solutions around agriculture, health, utility bills and SME programs.

Speaking during the launch of the myKituiApp, Governor Malombe who was flanked by Safaricom’s Chief Corporate Security Officer Nicholas Mulila, the county minister in charge of ICT Phoebe Ndungu and her Chief Officer Nason Kang’alya described the digital App as a great milestone and a big break from the past where residents and government officers had to deal with mountains of paperwork.

We are happy to create a digital platform where our services can be effectively and efficiently accessed at a one stop shop through a single e- citizen access channel. The launch of myKituiApp reflects my administration’s commitment in utilizing technology to make county government services accessible and convenient for all,” Governor Malombe said in an event that was also attended by a number of other top county officials.

Governor Malombe noted that the county is embracing ICT to drive service delivery to the county residents in a timely and efficient manner.

Kitui becomes the eleventh county in Kenya and second in Eastern region to launch the digital App, a technological advancement that is meant to revolutionize how the devolved governments provide their services.

The county chief directed the county department of ICT to start planning towards the trajectory of having paperless meetings and offices, adding that in two years time, nearly all county operations should be digitized.

Mr Mulila said he was thrilled by the county government’s preparedness to embrace technology, saying that all the necessary support will be given to the devolved unit.
