SEKU Listed Among Top 10 Successful State Corporations

A Kitui based university has been listed among the top 10 performing state corporations, according to a report released by the ministry of public service. 


South Eastern Kenya University (Seku) located at Kwa Vonza in Kitui county is listed at position eight and is among six other public universities that have made it to the top 10 performing state corporations.


This is according to a report on evaluation of the performance of ministries, state corporations and tertiary institutions for the year 2020/2021 released by the Ministry of Public service on Wednesday.


SEKU has been on an upward trend in terms of performance and development since Professor Geoffrey Muluvi took over as Vice Chancellor. 


Recently the university opened its doors to ultra modern campuses in Kitui town and Wote town, Makueni which have capacity to accommodate more students. 


Other public universities that have made it to the top 10 performers include Embu, Chuka and Nairobi universities. Others are Tharaka University college and Technical University of Mombasa. 


National Irrigation Authority took the first position of the top 10 performing state corporations while Water Resources Authority took position 10. 


“This may have been attributed to strong performance management structures, healthy competition and collaboration among the universities,” the report says of the six top performing public universities under state corporations category.  


Among notable state corporations listed under the bottom 10 performing include Kenya Culture Centre, Kenya Utalii college, Special Economic Zones Category and National Oil Corporation of Kenya among others.
