Image
Governor Julius Malombe - EGH If there was one loud wish by the people of Kitui County, it was to have the former governor Kaluki Ngilu and her ghosts dislodged from the seat of power and tossed to the wind.  Why? The reasons are out there in the public and we need not overemphasize them. Now Dr. Malombe is firmly at the seat of power. And the train has left the station - convincingly so.  The county, which stalled when Governor Malombe was not declared the winner in 2017 is being re-worked and is currently getting its groove back. The chips are falling into their place. It's a jigsaw fit of sorts.  For starters, Governor Malombe has made deliberate efforts to revive our health facilities which - for 5 years - had been reduced to death traps. The governor has ensured that the welfare of the doctors and other healthcare givers is looked into.  In under six months, Governor Malombe has procured drugs and non pharmaceutical commodities to ensure timely and quality health services in

In August 1982, Raila at 37 was a co-mastermind of the aborted coup led by Senior Private Hezekiah Ochuka (God continue to rest his soul). A biography released in 2006 confirmed Rao's participation in the putsch. His father pleaded with Moi for dear son's life. A death sentence was substituted with 6 years of detention without trial. However an estimated 100 soldiers and 200 civilians caught perished during the coup's suppression. Capturing power through the gun aborted.  2. Raila served two other detention stints (September 1988 to 12 June 1989), the third from 5 July 1990 alongside Kenneth Matiba and Charles Rubia for crusading for multi-party democracy. We cannot forget this sacrifice for Kenya's freedom from authoritarianism.  3. In February 1992 Agwambo returned from exile in Norway to join the Forum for the Restoration of Democracy (FORD) and served as Vice Chairman of

Dr. Temi Mutia training Mango farmers on value addition.  Our Reporter There is need for both levels of government to support mango farmers in Kitui County to cushion them from post harvest losses.  At the same time, farmers should be supported to practice Climate Smart Agriculture as a way of cushioning them from the adverse effects of drought and climate change.  This call has been made by Dr Temi Mutia, a value chain expert and a director at Rise Kenya, an NGO that is helping locals cope with the devastating effects of climate change. Speaking while on a visit to Mwingi Horticultural Farmers Society at Kalisasi, Dr. Temi urged the national and county government to support fruit farmers to enable them reap maximum benefits from their produce. The farmers' group based at Kalisasi in Mwingi Central is engaged in making mango flakes using solar driers, which makes it ideal for value addition and for keeping the fruits for a longer period.  Dr. Temi revealed that there are 11 coopera
