With the next election just few months away, senator Kiio Wambua has maintained an unassailable lead ahead of his competitors who are wobbling behind, according to the latest opinion poll.  The online opinion poll that was concluded yesterday placed senator Wambua at 65.73 percent of the respondents, making him the most popular and liked candidate for senatorial seat come 2022.  His closest competitor is Mwingi lawyer Nyamu Mati who scrapped a miserable 18.7 percent followed by Allan Sila who garnered a measly 4.31 percent.  Other pretenders to the throne were Julius Mutukaa who also managed 4 percent and Stephen Kilonzo who was dismissed with 3 percent by the respondents. Editorial Maybe we should start by asking a rhetorical question. Does the populous and vast Kitui county need to be split into two counties? Even if you were to wake up the dead from the graves, they would answer in the affirmative; YES! And this push for an extra county - to allow for more resources, translating to more development and service delivery - is what senator Enoch Wambua has been pushing for, at the risk of coming out as the only lone voice for the timely idea. Timely because everybody agrees that Kitui is too vast and has the requisite numbers to be split into two counties; Kitui and Mwingi counties. It is out of this passion and the demand by Kitui residents that the visionary senator presented a private member's Bill to the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs with a proposal to have Mwingi County curved out of the larger Kitui county. The Dynamic Trio As earlier and correctly predicted by Homeland News, the Dynamic Trio of Timothy Mbuvi, Faith Moki and Joel Musemi were elected into office as chairman, secretary and deputy treasurer respectfully.  The three carried favour with county government workers for being vibrant, advanced in thought and being in touch with what issues affect fellow county government workers. There is something likeable and admirable about Dr Julius Makau Malombe, the man who set Kitui on a path of real development and firsts that today remain the bottom line in many a people's lips.
