Senator Wambua's Proposal Is Timely, Ignore Village Hirelings

Maybe we should start by asking a rhetorical question. Does the populous and vast Kitui county need to be split into two counties? Even if you were to wake up the dead from the graves, they would answer in the affirmative; YES!


And this push for an extra county - to allow for more resources, translating to more development and service delivery - is what senator Enoch Wambua has been pushing for, at the risk of coming out as the only lone voice for the timely idea.


Timely because everybody agrees that Kitui is too vast and has the requisite numbers to be split into two counties; Kitui and Mwingi counties.


It is out of this passion and the demand by Kitui residents that the visionary senator presented a private member's Bill to the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs with a proposal to have Mwingi County curved out of the larger Kitui county. This move by the Senator which is obviously meant for the good of the people does not happen everyday. This calls for passion, zeal to serve and having the people's interest at heart.


It is therefore shocking to see a few misguided village hirelings, some aging bachelors and village bumpkins who have no clout  trying to whittle down the senator's efforts. 


It is quite laughable when some of these numskulls attempt to threaten the senator with politics of 2027 yet even 2022 is not here yet. How daft! 


The senator's petition - which is receiving a good consideration in Parliament (do the bumpkins know that Parliament here refers to both the National Assembly and the Senate?) contains a proposal to have Kitui East as part of Mwingi County. That's just a proposal. 


Should Kitui be allocated an extra county, the people of Kitui will be afforded an opportunity to discuss and give views on which part should be placed where. There are a raft of considerations one of them being boundaries and a people. 


What the senator has done is to kick start a conversation and follow it up with Action  and that should be lauded by all.


The dubious village hirelings and their wannabe aspirants and political rent seekers  cannot and will not kick off an idea but they will - like teary eyed witches - wait on the sidelines for others to start an idea then swoop to criticize. That's being silly, dense and unambitious! 


Let us support senator Wambua, a progressive leader by all means to have a Mwingi County. The rest are details.

    I support kiio totally who on earth can deny that Kitui county is too large for one governor? The president should quickly say yes.

We are Going Digital & Paperless - says Governor Malombe

Governor Malombe with Nicholas Mulila  Our Reporter   The county government in partnership with Safaricom Plc has launched a digital platform that will enable county residents access county government services online. Dubbed myKituiApp , the digital platform which is meant to be a one stop shop will be instrumental in payment of county services such as business permits, parking fees and revenue management systems. The online tool will also come in handy in offering solutions around agriculture, health, utility bills and SME programs. Our Reporter   State of Devolution: Kitui leads other counties As the Devolution conference gets underway in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County, Kitui County under the leadership of Governor Julius Malombe has been cited as the best performing county among the 47 in the country. This is according to the latest report by the Council of Governors that was released by the chairperson Anne Waiguru.  The second performing county according to the unbiased report is Waiguru's Kirinyaga County followed by Vihiga in their position.  This feat has earned Governor Malombe a coveted position and honour in the Devolution Conference where he is expected to receive a standing ovation and a chance to address his colleagues and delegates drawn from across the country.
