Image
Antony Woods aka Miti   JOINED IMAGINATIONS- A TRIBUTE TO THE LATE ROBERT ANTHONY WOODS ( a.k.a Miti). By Temi M Mutia Fri. 26th May 2023 ~ In the recent past, I have not been a great fun of both the mainstream media as well as social media. ~ I am increasingly finding both, quite toxic in the kind of news they carry. ~..... so, soooo predictable with politics being the main menu on offer; ~ And so, when I first got the news that, Mr. Tony Woods ( the Long serving Principal of St. Charles Lwanga School) was gravely ill, I quickly rushed to the St. Charles Lwanga Old Boys whatApp Wall for some concise updates on the matter only to learn that he was no more; ~ I have quite a lot I could say about Mr. Woods, but chose to restrict myself to just 3 incidences about about Mr. Woods, which I still remember as if they happened just yesterday; A visit to our girls at St Angelas... ~ The first one was when I was in form four in the first term, in 1979. It was on a Sunday evening and ...

Umaa Dam Revival; Malombe's Skillful Lobbying

Image
Governor Julius Malombe, EGH Our Reporter   The National Government has undertaken to revive and complete the stalled Umaa dam project in Kitui Central following the timely intervention of Governor Julius Malombe. Dr. Malombe hosted the Water Permanent Secretary Paul Rono a month ago where he lobbied for the revival of the stalled mega dam. The governor who later took the PS on a tour of the stalled project noted that its completion will provide water to tens of thousands of people in Kitui town and its environs.  The dam project stalled under the watch of Kaluki Ngilu when she served as Water Minister and Kitui Central MP. Curiously during her time as governor, she made no efforts to revive the dam.  PS Rono praised Governor Malombe for coming up with a comprehensive water programme that will make the county water secure through constructing water pans, sand dams, mini dams and boreholes across the vast county. "I am impressed by the Governor's water programme to make p...

Ditch Raila Now, Prepare for 2027 - Kalonzo Advised

Campbell Munyambu - He wants Kalonzo to ditch Raila Kalonzo Must De-link himself from Raila   A passionate call has been put forth for Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to cut political ties with ODM leader Raila Odinga and start preparing for his presidential bid in 2027. The appeal was made by Mwingi professionals forum coordinator Campbell Munyambu who says that all indications are that Raila will never support Kalonzo for the top seat. To regain his political muscle, Munyambu argues that Kalonzo should forthwith de-associate himself with Odinga and start mobilizing his troops in preparation for taking a stab at the presidency in 2027. " From his body language and actions, all signals point to a Raila who is not willing and ready to support Kalonzo for presidency. This is despite Kalonzo having supported him for three consecutive presidential elections, " observes Munyambu.  And from this perspective, the professional argues that Kalonzo stands a better chance politically...

Why Kitui Nation is Happy with Governor Malombe

Image
Governor Julius Malombe - EGH If there was one loud wish by the people of Kitui County, it was to have the former governor Kaluki Ngilu and her ghosts dislodged from the seat of power and tossed to the wind.  Why? The reasons are out there in the public and we need not overemphasize them. Now Dr. Malombe is firmly at the seat of power. And the train has left the station - convincingly so.  The county, which stalled when Governor Malombe was not declared the winner in 2017 is being re-worked and is currently getting its groove back. The chips are falling into their place. It's a jigsaw fit of sorts.  For starters, Governor Malombe has made deliberate efforts to revive our health facilities which - for 5 years - had been reduced to death traps. The governor has ensured that the welfare of the doctors and other healthcare givers is looked into.  In under six months, Governor Malombe has procured drugs and non pharmaceutical commodities to ensure timely and quality...
