Revealed: Meet Dr. Malombe's Running Mate

Mr Kanani, Dr Malombe's running mate   Dr Julius Malombe has chosen Augustine Wambua Kanani from Mumoni in Mwingi North as his running mate ahead of August 9 polls. Mr Kanani is a reputed economist and a banker of long standing with over 26 years of working experience. His name and that of Dr.Malombe were forwarded to IEBC by Wiper party's National Elections Board on May 16th, 2022  Mr. Kanani emerged the top candidate out of 22 that were shortlisted.  He made it to the top after a rigorous consultative vetting process conducted by an independent panel that shortlisted 22 candidates reflecting the face of Kitui County. SEKU Listed Among Top 10 Successful State Corporations

Our Reporter   A Kitui based university has been listed among the top 10 performing state corporations, according to a report released by the ministry of public service.  South Eastern Kenya University (Seku) located at Kwa Vonza in Kitui county is listed at position eight and is among six other public universities that have made it to the top 10 performing state corporations. This is according to a report on evaluation of the performance of ministries, state corporations and tertiary institutions for the year 2020/2021 released by the Ministry of Public service on Wednesday. Without Kalonzo, Raila Will Lose - Says Top Professional

Campbell Munyambu A reknown Mwingi professional has warned that Raila Odinga risks losing the Kamba vote and eventually losing the presidential election should he not pick Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as his running mate. Campbell Munyambu who is also a political analyst noted that even in the last two presidential elections the Kamba community voted for Raila only because Kalonzo supported him.  He stated that without Kalonzo's support, Raila will lose the presidential election. "The Kamba vote is now well over 2 million. This is what Raila risks to lose if he doesn't pick Kalonzo as his deputy. If that happens it therefore means he will lose the presidential election," Munyambu observed. Kyuma @Miambani There was song and dance in Miambani ward yesterday when Kitui's development icon Dr Julius Malombe paid a visit to the area grassroots leaders . The team that included men and women drawn from different walks of life received Malombe with colourful songs and a confirmation that the ward was solidly behind his people driven candidature.  Malombe assured the grassroot leaders that he was in the race to win, having responded to Kitui people's call to serve the county as governor.  The message from the attendants  was all clear; that Kaluki Ngilu must be rooted out for incurable incompetence and looting of county resources with reckless abandon.  "Malombe nowe utonya county ii. Mwingi Pupil Goes Blind, Misses KCPE

Stella Vaati with her mother Kathini Maluki By Guest writer Stella Vaati, 15, casts a forlorn look at her hospital bed at Mwingi Level IV Hospital where she sits idle most of the day even as her peers write their KCPE Exams. Unlike other KCPE candidates who are busy writing their exams, Vaati is not able to do her exams. She has gone blind. Few days to the examination day, the girl whose name means luck lost her sight, reportedly due to a tumour in her brain. The Kisole Primary School pupil in Mwingi Central is now blind and has to rely on the help of her mother to even go to the toilet. "She has been complaining of constant headache in the recent past. I used to buy her pain killers but when the pain persisted I brought her to the hospital," says Kathini Maluki, the girl's mother. SEKEB Professionals Root For Community's Inclusion In Government

Today the leadership of South Eastern Kenya Professionals and Business Foundation held consultations with Akamba Leadership Forum, generally known as APEX, under the chairmanship of Archbishop Timothy Ndambuki.  The Forum brings together the Association of Ukambani Church Leaders, Ukambani Council of Elders, Atumia ma Thome and the Akamba Clans Governing Council, and its mission is "to promote the unity of the Akamba community, mentorship of leaders, promotion of good governance, and integral sustainable development."  During the meeting, we discussed the economic and political status of the Region and Country and analyzed various possible scenarios and outcomes, especially their impact in Lower Eastern.  We agreed that the consultations and collaboration will continue, but there was a consensus that it will be important to be part of the government come August 2022.
