Kitui Deploys Portable Ultrasound Devices to Save Lives

Christine Sammy shows how a portable ultrasound device works.  Our Writer Kitui County has deployed 63 portable ultrasound devices to rural villages to assist pregnant mothers and reduce maternal deaths. The devices, which have been in use for the last one year, are being rolled out under the Point of Care Ultrasound Services (Pocus) initiative, which has proved instrumental in curbing maternal deaths in the county. The life-saving initiative is part of the health innovations being showcased by the county at the ongoing 9th Devolution Conference in Homa Bay County . While demonstrating how the gadgets work yesterday, Christine Sammy, a senior nurse who is the county  coordinator for reproductive health stated that ultrasound services are key for all pregnant mothers to know the status of the foetus at early stages. Addressing the press today in Mwingi town, Mr Munyambu stated that the AU chairmanship position needs a man of admirable diplomacy and acceptable character, which Raila lacks. Mr Munyambu pointed out that Raila lacks the requisite credentials to head the AU commision, adding that in Africa, Raila has earned the dubious fame of being a warmonger and lacking in consistency. Kitui Partners with Tourism Ministry to Set Up Utalii Campus, Rhino Sanctuary

rich MoU Kitui County Government under Governor Julius Malombe has found favour with the National Government and other development partners due to the transparent manner it is executing its programmes. This level of trust has seen development partners troop to the County with goodies which are meant to benefit the local residents.  The latest entrant is the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife which on Friday inked a partnership with the County Government to set up a campus for Utalii College and a Rhino sanctuary in the county.  Addressing the media soon after signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry and the County Government, Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua said that the efforts are geared towards revamping the regional tourism and generating revenue for Kitui County while upping the stakes for the country as an attractive tourism destination. Governor Malombe sends Team to visit Accident Victims in Machakos

Our Reporter  Following the accident that happened at Katangi yesterday claiming the lives of 10 people, Governor Julius Malombe has today dispatched a team of high level officers to visit the injured victims at Machakos level V hospital.  The visiting team in Machakos include CECM for health Ruth Koki who was accompanied by Chief Officer for Medical Services Dr Benson Musyoka and his counterpart Aggrey Kamba. They joined the Machakos county health team led by the CECM for health Dr Daniel Yumbya. The gesture by the Kitui County Government to commiserate with the victims of the grisly road accident has been lauded by County residents. It shows that the county administration cares for its people even when they have been admitted in facilities outside the County.
